How important is age difference?

Now really there were two issues I had. One: was this girl, who I found attractive, and would also flirt with me, was my manager. Two: she was older than me. We went out a couple of times from a fancy dinner to just a couple of drinks at a bar. She is no longer my manager. We both have new jobs. So, I would like to know what you think about age difference? I’m 21 and she is 38. I don’t know if I should just ask her if she is serious because it seems to me that she tries to avoid the question. I don’t know if its just because she is nervous.
