Completely Confused

I have been struggling with my weight all my life. I lost 60lbs (healthy and supervised). I have gone to a nutritionist and originally lost 10lbs. I travel for work weekly and had not gained these 10lbs until a few months ago. I am now working out 5-6 times a week (beach volleyball, rowing, running and spinning) and trying to watch what I eat and I'm gaining (I gained back those 10lbs and another 10!!). Even my husband is not understanding what is going on. Has this happened to anyone? I'm trying to follow the nutritionist's advice but I keep gaining. Help!!

Great comments but one clarification - the idea that muscle weighs more than fat is incorrect. one pound of muscle and one pound of fat are the same weight. Just like one tonne of feathers equals one tonne of lead.... the muscle and fat may look different on a body but one does not weigh more than the other.

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat. If you are doing all those activities you are likely replacing fat with muscle mass. Plus sometimes unless you are extremely over-weight which you are not, nutritionist diets (or programs like weight watchers for example) can actually make you gain more weight than if you just tried eating everything in moderation. I'm not sure why this is but it is happened to a couple of my friends and when they just started to eat healthy in their own way it worked way better for them. Hope this helps some.
