Why are my energy levels getting lower?

For the past 2 months, after successfully quitting smoking, I have been trying to lose the weight gained by exercising and eating right (I have lost a total of 7 lbs in 9 weeks). I have followed a Weight Watchers-like program of my own design, biked to and from work at least 2 to 3 days per week. My question is: Why are my energy levels getting lower instead of higher?
I have a very hard time getting out of bed in the morning (don't need to be up until 7:15 a.m.) and am exhausted and could easily fall asleep by 7 p.m. most evenings.
Thanks so much in advance.

I agree with Niki. But like to add that you could just be over exerting yourself. Remember, weight loss is gradual. It doesn't happen over night. What time are you going to bed? What are you doing before you go to bed? Are you stressed? Being stressed can cause you to not hit REM sleep (full on sleep), hence you wake up tired. If it's not over exertion, keep a journal of what you do throughout the day till you get to bed. Bring this with you when you see your doctor. Good luck.

Congratulations on your hard work and success! There are many reasons why your energy levels could be getting lower and you should talk to your doctor about it. You could not be getting enough nutrition to support your increased activity or you could have iron deficiency anemia, like me. It could be anything, so talk to your doctor for support on your healthier lifestyle. Congrats and good luck!
