 Another great pant for summer is the flowy linen pant, which can look as, if not more, attractive on men than on women. This pant can either go down to the ankle or a few inches above it, producing similar effects since its appeal is not in its length, but in its casual, flowy material, which is perfect for hot temperatures. The sleek effect it has on the body comes from its airy flexibility, which can make even the most sweat prone man look calm and collected in warm weather. As a personal rule, this pant can almost only be paired with sandals, given its uniquely summer material. Simple Shirts Ideally, the linen pant would be paired with a shirt that is also made of a flowy material (linen or thin cotton). If worn with a long sleeved shirt, sleeves should be rolled up and a few buttons on the top are best left undone. This rolled-up sleeve, casual shirt is one of my favourites on men during the summer. A plain t-shirt (not too over-sized) would also pair well with this linen. Don’t Show Too Much One of the things I hate seeing on men (or women) during summer months is a t-shirt which has its sleeves cut off at the armpit area. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find this shirt unattractive and tacky, even if the guy's arms are well built. I’m not quite sure who invented it (or why) but whoever it was, they wouldn’t be considered a fashion innovator on my list. Subtle Hints Now the question is: how do you tell your man how to dress for summer without insulting his current sense of style or without coming off as a controlling girlfriend? Perhaps, while he’s off his guard (which is probably often in this intense heat!) tell him how you like to wear your summer clothes (indirectly telling him what not to wear). For example, tell him why you like to wear a linen pant or why you don’t like wearing sneakers/socks with ¾ length pants. While you are shopping or watching television, point out clothes that he might wear, like linen pants or shirts with sandals, so that he may subconsciously get hints on what looks good on the body for summer. ____________________________ getting the right fit If these subtle hints don’t work, you can always buy him a couple of gifts and offer him suggestions on how best to wear them. This way, your man will get a clue that undershirts and sneakers worn with shorts are just not the way to go for summer or any other season, for that matter. |
