We were pretty impressed with last year’s bold step in film adaptations musicals inspired by films, that is.

Monty Python take-off Spamalot has been touring to sold-out shows across the world. Edward Scissorhands The Musical was astonishing in its faithfulness to Tim Burton’s story. The new Lord of the Rings: the Musical is set to wow Canadian audiences this spring. It seems that anything and everything can be set to music and put on stage. But Bruce Lee? Yes.

Matthew Warchus, who is currently directing LOTR in Toronto, is rumored to be directing the new venture, slated for a 2008 premier. The musical will detail events in Lee’s life, and get this the music for it is rumored to be written by David Bowie. A true mixing of cult icons.

How the world’s most perfect roundhouse will translate on stage is anyone’s guess, but if anyone can do it musically, Bowie can.
