As a Kansas graduate, I’m thrilled to see Syracuse bow out to a low rung Big 12 Team, although as a Syracuse fan, it hurts. However it shows that the Big 12 is the better conference and the Big East was overrated, to a point. When it happened, you could hear throughout Central and Western New York, a collective groan. It was the third loss in as many games for the newly expanded Big East, which sent a record eight teams into the field of 65. Some would say that Cincinnati needed to be in there. Wichita State pounded Seton Hall 86-66 in Greensboro, N.C., and Marquette was knocked off by Alabama, 90-85 in San Diego earlier in the day.
