How to Know if He's Serious
I recently ended a long-term relationship and for the past couple months I've been back in the dating game. I'd like to say the advice in your article How to Know if He's Serious About A Relationship is excellent.
After being in a long relationship, women tend to forget certain things like distinguishing whether a guy wants to get serious or just get into her pants. This article was like a small window into the mind of a guy. A good guy and a not so good guy.
The article was also quite humorous and uplifting. Terence's writing is like a male version of Carrie Bradshaw's. Thanks for the advice - and next time a man buys me clashing shoes when he can afford a diamond ring, I'll know why (lol)!
About Your Metabolism
Hi Justine,
I just read your article How To Boost Your Metabolism and I was struck by the section saying “Dairy foods can speed up my metabolism.”
Could you direct me to the studies you are referring to? I don’t have a great knowledge regarding scientific nutrition theories but I do read the magazine ‘Nutrition Action’. Interestingly, in their last issue they had an article on this subject.
It would be nice to get links to studies you refer. I personally believe this theory is not true and I would like to be proven wrong if I am.
I have to say that you article is excellent - good meals and exercise is what everyone should do, no excuse!
Happy new year!
Patrick
Justine Kim's Response:
Thank you for your feedback and interest in the subject. The link between dairy and weight loss/increased metabolic rate is still under investigation and the research is still fairly new and controversial. The American Diabetic Association and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition have published a few of these studies.
Dr. Michael Zemel, PhD, of the University of Tennessee is a well-known supporter of this claim. However, his studies have come under attack since they have been funded by the dairy industry. Nonetheless, even Dr. Zemel says that dairy foods alone do not contribute to weight loss. He stresses that calcium intake must go hand in hand with a calorie controlled diet.
