Men, Shopping, Grooming, and more

[Editor's Letters]
One reader tries to offer better Christmas party suggestions, one reader can't get enough grooming tips, and more. The Editors respond to your letters.

I enjoyed Ian's article on Why Men Don't Like Shopping. My solution to this situation is to shop separately by setting a meet time one or two hours later, at a specific spot. The deadline will never be met but it will be 15-30 minutes late at the most. This method allows me to check out what I like and keeps my sanity intact.

A Man's Fantasy

I just read the article 4 Real Male Fantasies and I almost died of laughter. But you know what - it is so true! Nice that a man's opinion gets out there. I hope some women read it and take it to heart thanks and have a good one.

Christmas Party Ideas

Good Morning,

As this year's organizer for our annual staff Christmas Party I have to admit that I found your 8 Original Christmas Party Ideas a little, well... unoriginal.

I'll give you an idea of what we do at my office:

Last year, the staff was divided into teams and we had to make a gingerbread house with the provided materials and limited time in which to do it. There was also a competition on creating alternate lyrics to Christmas Carols, a trip out of the office to go-karting, then finally a "White Elephant" style gift exchange.

Past fun days have also included a Britney Spears dancing game competition (on X Box), bowling, and a rousing game of Family Feud. As for me, I have a series of activities lined up including a game that collected "secrets" from staff members in which other staff members will have to guess which secret belongs to which staff. To top off our day we have a trip to a "fun junction" where we will be doing laser tag, rock climbing, mini-golf and a series of arcade games.

These games are fun, get everyone out of their regular work mode and the only rules that apply are show up, have fun or be fired.

Thanks,
Jocelyn Formsma

Editor’s Note: Thanks for your suggestions Jocelyn. The ideas in our article were a little more traditional, yet they are often spoken about and rarely done. Your ideas sound like fun but may be a bit tougher to pull off. In any case, it sounds like you know what you're doing - best of luck with your party!
