Beethoven made the “deaf musician” thing popular at the turn of the 19th century – however, what worked for the classical crowd may not be a good career move for a rapper now. Singer Foxy Brown, currently in court to deal with assault charges on nail salon staff dating from 2004, has apparently been completely deaf since May. Her sudden hearing loss was diagnosed while she was recording her new album, from which “Come Fly With Me” is the first (and only) single released. According to her medical consultant, Laura Arias, surgery will follow in the new year, but the recovery time and surgery effectiveness are as yet unknown. The causes of the deafness have also not been mentioned. My guess is that she actually started listening to the tripe she was saying about “I'm like whatever for my team through the cheddah,” at which point her ears shut down in self-defense. |
