What does your t-shirt say about you? Are you an indie rocker or a new prep? Rakesh Singh explains what makes the perfect t-shirt. ![]() Think about it. The perfect t-shirt is comfortable and boosts confidence. Like a Batman costume or the Superman emblem, that perfect t-shirt helps to portray your personality to all those around you. The powers of the t-shirt are many fold: it can make you look good on and off the beach and depending on the level of wit or artistry on the t-shirt, it can help to break the ice at social events. By a man’s mid-twenties, most have drawers full of t-shirts, many of them remnants and reminders of the conquests and antics of times passed. Choosing That Perfect T-Shirt In the new age of the metrosexual, casual wear has never been more important. Whether it is a new father taking his child to the park or a University student prowling the local bar scene, every man needs a t-shirt that symbolizes his own innate heroic attributes. Yet, as always, with great power comes great responsibility. So how does one go about choosing one’s armour properly? Don’t worry because like an earnest and true sidekick, this Soko.com writer has your back. Fit First thing’s first: sizing matters. Just like you wouldn’t want to see Jabba-the-Hut’s mother in a tank top and miniskirt, you must choose a t-shirt that is the right size for you. T-shirts are tricky in this area. Often they are too big and the person inside of them looks like Homer Simpson in a moo-moo. On the other hand, they can be so tight that they do nothing but highlight beer bellies and man breasts. The main factor in choosing a t-shirt is to decide what elements of your own body you want to show off. If you want show off your chest or your broad shoulders, try a t-shirt made of a material that hugs your body. If you want to look sleeker, try a slightly loose and flowing t-shirt that just drapes over you. Take note of where the t-shirt ends. The length of the t-shirt can make one’s midsection seem too elongated or too short. Try to find a t-shirt that ends just at your hips unless you are buying one of those long hip-hop style ones. Lots of stores only carry t-shirts in large and extra large and while they do shrink a little in the wash, do not get suckered into buying a shirt that does not fit right. |
