Making It Through Infertility TogetherBy Kevin Fleming [Relationships]

![]() With Thanksgiving coming up (in the US at least) and eventually Christmas, going through infertility can be especially rough for some couples. Chances are that you are feeling emotionally drained and not exactly in the mood to celebrate much of anything. This is not to mention the sometimes overwhelming tasks that come with the holidays, i.e. making food, buying presents, etc… So, what do you do to get through the holidays? You do not have to come out with the fact that you and your partner are having issues conceiving. Instead, come up with a prearranged excuse about how busy you are with work or something like that. From there, tell whomever you need to tell that you probably won’t be able to make your usual turkey or have time to shop. It’s a lie, but it’s a “lifesaving” lie. Plus, saying that you are busy with work or something will give both you and your partner ample quiet time together when needed. On the other hand, if you feel that taking your mind off the matter is the best medicine, go ahead and throw yourself whole heartedly into the tasks at hand. For example, make more food for the family gathering or set up a pre-holiday meal at your residence. I’ll leave the rest to you in that regard.
