Do you keep a checklist of qualities you want your future partner to project?  Jenny Ferguson explores if approach is really helpful to finding a mate.

While most singles will claim that they aren’t picky when it comes to getting a date or even finding someone to call their own, singles can be the worst when it comes to making wish lists and hoping to have them fulfilled.  It’s important to have an idea of what you’re looking for in a man or woman:  is humour a quality you require in a potential mate, do you prefer geeks, or are you someone who needs to date a man or woman who can cook?

• Good-looking—you know, in shape and well kept together
• Gainfully employed—money, money, money so we can eat out at nice restaurants
• Independent but able to commit—not clingy but someone who won’t keep me at arms length

Does this list sound familiar enough?  Singles around the world daydream of Mr. or Ms. Right and he or she is usually perfect, shiny white teeth, perfect disposition and all!  But there’s something wrong with obsessing over your wish list…
