Are You Ready For Marriage?

When is A Man Ready?
For some reason or another, it is always the man in the relationship who is accused of being unable to commit to marriage.  Then again, I’m a man, so I’m probably wrong.  For the women out there who are having trouble deducing whether your man is ready to take the plunge or is even contemplating asking you “the question,” here are a few signs to look for.

First, you know a man is ready for marriage when he is fed up with bachelor lifestyle.  For example, if you notice that he is sick and tired of going to bars and other hot spots with his single friends, chances are that he is ready to settle down with you on a permanent basis.  Second, a good sign that he is ready for marriage is when he is financially independent and financially stable.  Men usually like to be financially stable before getting married or starting a family, so if he is able to meet his financial responsibilities, chances are that he is contemplating the married life.

Finally, you know he is ready when he wants to have kids.  Of course, most men aren’t going to come out and say that they want to have kids, but there will be subtle hints.  For example, if your man has started commenting on how it would be great to be able to spend time with kids and teach them things like fishing, baseball and other “manly things,” he’s probably decided that he wants to have a family with you.  Just do not expect him to come out and say that the both of you will make some beautiful kids or something like that.

When is A Woman Ready?
In my experience with friends who are married or who are about to be married, my guy friends have always told me that their lady friend basically came out and said she was ready to get married.  Gentlemen, this is your first hint: If she starts talking about marriage or says that she is ready, it isn’t one of those instances where women say one thing and mean another.  Long story short, it’s probably time to start looking for a ring if you are ready as well.

If your lady friend isn’t that direct, you’ll know she’s ready when she starts talking about the future in a specific manner.  For example, if she says that she would like to live in a semi-rural area, with “x” amount of rooms in the house, two dogs, and pink curtains, she wants you to pop the question.  Another sign to look for is when she starts talking about having children, especially with you.  This is about as cut and dry as it gets when it comes to potentially getting married.

Finally and perhaps most importantly, when she starts talking about all of her friends who are getting married in an envious manner, you’ll know that it’s that time.  Enough said.
