New Relationships: A Guide to Gift Giving

Dinner, flowers, socks or gift cards? Celebrating special occasions in the 1st year of a relationship is a definitive moment.  Logan Rogers makes sure you will impress your partner in this crucial beginning time.

The problem with starting a relationship is that you have absolutely no idea how long it’s going to last.  It might be one date or it might be the rest of your life!  Even more unfair is that all women expect gifts to become increasingly valuable as the relationship drags on.  So instead of thinking “What should I get her for her birthday?” you should really be thinking “What can I get her that I could easily top next year?”

One Month, Two Months, etc.

No matter what you (or she) might think, anything below six months is not a legitimate anniversary.  The best thing to do with these “monthiversaries” is ignore them because they are almost always lose-lose situations.

If you bring up the fact that today is your one-month anniversary she’ll probably think you’re a total loser.  If she brings it up, that probably means she expects a gift.  Stamp out this notion immediately. If she brings it up, simply lift your glass at dinner and say “To a wonderful month”.    It’s a classy move and more importantly, it’s easy to top!
