Want to know how to put your best face forward?  Marta Maslej gives you a brief guide to the top make-up looks of the summer.

From running to school or the office to going out at night, it is easy to get stuck in the make-up rut.  Most women opt for the same styles and shades of eye and lip colour, but sometimes it is fun to experiment with different looks.  The smallest change, such as switching, adding or even removing a product, can make a noted difference.  Check out this guide to this summer’s hottest make-up looks.  You just might decide to incorporate some of these into your everyday style.

Natural-Chic
Influenced by the onset of a bohemian revival, as well as an embracement of atypical beauty, clean, natural faces are becoming most prevalent in the make-up scene this year.  Bare skin, eyes and lips are in.  The idea is to accept your facial characteristics, even the ones you may not necessarily be fond of, because they contribute to your unique beauty.  With this natural look, you are no longer required to bother with tricky under-eye concealer or tanning creams, and painfully over-pick at stubborn brows.

However, there are essentials that take heed.  A clean, clear face is primary.  If you struggle with your skin, a flawless complexion can be easily created.  First, you should exfoliate and moisturize your skin to ensure an even application of make-up.  When applying a cream or liquid foundation, try to keep it as uniform as possible; the point is to look as though you’re not wearing any at all.  Use a concealer, if needed, to cover up any problem areas and finish off with a translucent powder.  Eyebrows should be maintained and shaped, but never too thin.  If you decide that you need a little added touch, consider using an eye shadow in a soft pink or copper, or a rosy blush.  A touch of mascara or lip colour can also be added.

Rosy Cheeks Meet Rosy Lips
You may be apprehensive about leaving your face so completely bare, especially for a night out. If you still wish to keep that natural, youthful look though, two very simple add-ons can get you from simple to stunning.  Coordinate your blush and lip colour in a bright shade and leave your eyes essentially bare.  A light shadow applied below the brow and in the inner corner of your eye, as well as a layer of mascara is more than enough.  As long as the rest of your features are kept simple, do not be scared to experiment with colour on the cheeks and lips.  Corals are not just for tanned retirees and peaches are not just for eating.  These brighter shades are fabulous for creating a healthy, feminine look.  With evening wear, try finding darker, more crimson hues.

An important indicator, when choosing a blush, is your own skin tone.  If you are very fair, reds and pinks work well.  More olive skin can be paired with warmer, browner shades while wines, plums and bronzes are gorgeous on darker skin tones.  Oranges and apricots are always pretty, but they are especially flattering on sun-kissed skin.  As a general rule, the shade that works best on your lips will look equally flattering on your cheeks.  So grab a tube of lipstick or gloss that you like and find a matching blush.  It’s that simple to create this summer’s hottest look.
