The Right Approach to Fitness

Funny Gym Moments

As I’m slowly phasing out of the fitness coaching industry and into more of a life coaching profession I still get to notice amazing things happening in the gyms across Canada on a fairly regular basis.

Since I haven’t shared with you funny moments from the gym in a while I would like to do that today.

A couple weeks ago I saw a guy carrying the newspaper around with him and after every set he would sit there for a few minutes and just read. The workout was not exactly productive as you could imagine.

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this one before but I once saw a guy doing bicep curls with an unlit cigar in his mouth.

To all you guys out there who feel the need to get your pose on after every single set can you please stop it – it annoys me and everybody else around you.

I also think it’s funny when out of shape people train out of shape people.

The Right Approach to Fitness

I still get a hell of a lot of people asking me why I don’t do 60 minute sessions with most of my clients. When I give them the typical ‘because it’s not necessary’ answer they seem confused. I’ve said this in a recent article but we need to start focusing more on the intensity of our workouts rather then the duration.

When someone comes up to me and says they did a two hour workout that day it does not impress me. When someone tells me they did an 18 minute metabolic conditioning workout that brought them to their knees then that impresses me.

What exactly do you do in that 2 hours? Walk, jog a bit maybe, get a light body part workout in probably. Not really too effective if you ask me.
