Are you guilty of neglecting your biggest organ?  Stephanie Patulli shares simple steps to achieving healthier and more radiant skin and hair.

Society puts a lot of emphasis on eating right to ensure good health for our internal organs.  What about our biggest organ, the skin? Whether on the face, body, or scalp, you need proper care to keep skin looking healthy.  There’s a lot more to skin care than just using the latest creams and cleansers.  Follow some key steps and your skin will thank you.

Don’t Scrub
This goes for both skin- and scalp-washing.  In the shower, slather on body wash gently using the palms of your hands.  Lather shampoo with your fingertips.  Never use nails to scratch the skin or the scalp.  You might think you’re doing a better job of cleaning if you scrape away product, but you’ll end up with irritated skin that is prone to breakouts and bleeding.

When using exfoliating products, apply even less pressure than you usually do.  Rub the exfoliating scrub on in soft, small circles to ensure the best results.  You shouldn’t need to exfoliate more than once a week, unless you have oily skin.  In that case, you can get away with using a scrub twice a week.  Exfoliating too often can lead to dry, red skin.
