Spring Style Trend Forecast

What is an eternally popular spring fashion trend?  Lisa Xing shares some great styles to sport this spring.
The coming spring season is exciting in that the trends aren’t set very stringently.  Florals are in, as always, and gorgeous too.  But there is also a movement toward the coordination of solid colours as kind of an avant-garde simple style a la American Apparel.  Other details in clothing are creeping up too, like kimono sleeves and the cowl neck.  The great thing about these pieces is that they can be adapted to many situations and many versatile looks—from trendy to formal to club-wear.

Floral

Florals are always a great idea for spring since they are appropriate to the season and bring new life to a wardrobe.  That’s not to say these bright prints aren’t good for other seasons, but they are particularly great for this time of year.  Don’t be afraid to think bright and big.  Large, loud prints are fun and can usually be classy, if you choose the right pieces and accessories to pair with it.  That is, leave that piece as the only bright piece and go with a more muted colour with the rest.

Dressing Down Tight

Loose clothing over tight pieces is at trend that is slowly picking up.  For example, remember those bodycon dresses?  If you need a way to dress them down, especially the brighter, shiny ones, why not think about throwing an oversized tank top over it?  It instantly tones down the look and makes it the perfect outfit for daywear.  You can do this with more than just tank tops though.  If you have a tight skirt or dress, find a loose and flowing one to put over top—even better if one layer peeks through the other.
