Spring Style Trend Forecast

Sheer Tights

Sheer tights are fun and not as warm as thicker styles, but who needs as much warmth for the spring months?  Sheer is reminiscent of the 80s-style tights and can instantly add colour to an outfit.  This is especially so if you have a dress or skirt that is too short.  We all know how bad a too-short skirt can look, especially from behind!  Tights do wonders in this department and can literally turn an outfit from scandalous to sweet.  Try to experiment with different colours and patterns.  Sometimes sheer lace or fishnets can add even more eye-popping value.

Boots In, Boots Out

Doc martens are ever making the fashion circuit and this season is the perfect example.  Uggs are definitely out.  Plus, who wants to see salt-stained boots anyways?  Docs are edgy and go great with dresses, skirts and trousers alike.  In fact, the good quality of these boots allows you to trudge around in the rain too, without getting your feet soaked (that is, if you resist the temptation to jump around in the puddles)!

Cowl Neck

The cowl neck used to be popular at one point, but in my opinion, it is a classic style that will never truly be out.  A cowl neck is classy and fun.  The style I particularly like and am seeing a lot of is super-low cowl neck dresses and shirts.  They can instantly be “professionalized” by wearing a tank top or tube top underneath in order to add modesty, but also work great alone for a night out.  This look is incredibly versatile.

Big Sleeves

Kimono-style sleeves are making a comeback because they are always flattering!  They flow and give off a fun, free-spirited feel.  Not only that, tops with big sleeves are comfortable and allow for unrestricted movement.  These tops give off a bohemian feel that instantly fits the spring season.  Look for intricately knit tops and satin ones too.

Coming Up Daisies

One of the most enduring crazes of the spring season is the floral print.  Choose one bright, loud floral printed piece for your outfit, whether it is a top or a skirt, and keep the rest of your outfit relatively simple.  This will make that one piece pop and stand out.  Not only that, it will add a simple sophistication to the outfit that is otherwise compromised when you add too many busy patterns into one mix.
