What do male friends offer that female ones can’t?  Robyn Simpson tells you why she misses her stash of man-friends.
Let me be clear:  I adore my girlfriends.  When I need to talk and talk deeply, for a long time, they are perfect.  They are also my oldest friends so I can confidently say they know me best.  They are also fabulous for going out for drinks or coffee.  And when it comes to shopping, there is no contest:  women win.

Yes, women can shop with you until you both drop, lament with you about the size of your behind and down junk food with the best of them.  But having guy friends is just as necessary.  Let me explain why.

Boys, Boys, Boys

Yes, I shall start with the obvious.  You want to know what a certain guy is thinking?  Well there’s no one better to ask then a guy.  To quote Samantha Jones:  “Men aren’t very complicated.  They’re kind of like plants.”  Women could sit around thinking up very plausible answers for why men behave the way they do.  The answers are always complicated and raise even more questions.

Not so much with men.  Men are allergic to drama and anything that involves complicated emotions.  If you give them a situation, they will tell you that it could mean a max of three things.  Usually it’s just one.  How refreshingly simple.

As an aside, if you are comfortable enough with any of your male friends, you could always ask them for sex tips.  I have and let’s just say that when I put their advice into practice, it was very well received.  Beat that, Cosmo!

Comedy Central

Ladies, you are funny, but men are downright hilarious.  They have a one-liner for everything and their entire lives could consist of one long witty banter session.  Their entertainment of choice is often really funny.  When it doesn’t involve insane car chases, that is.

Along the same lines, they are the go-to people if you want to just chill.  I’m talking beer, pizza and a movie.  We girls have the spa, but try guy-relaxing with a couple of dudes.  You are just as relaxed and you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your home!
