![]() If you find yourself falling hard for a guy at first glance, be sure to take a step back, take a deep breath and remember that you’re not a character in a fairy tale. You may be incredibly attracted to him physically, which could include not just his features, but also his mannerisms, the way he moves, how he dresses and that indefinable “vibe” you get from a guy when you first meet him. Once you talk to him, you may discover that you have tonnes in common and your conversation flows smoothly without awkward pauses. This is it! He must be The One, right?! Not so fast. Remember that there is plenty you don’t know about him that you’ll learn only by spending lots of time with him. Women have a tendency to fixate on the positive aspects of a man while carefully ignoring the not-so-good parts. There’s no such thing as Prince Charming. But Have Fun With those realistic and pragmatic warnings out of the way, I should also say that the idea of being in love at first sight is thrilling, consuming and fun. Don’t deny yourself the giddy ecstatic feelings that come with the beginning of a relationship. Maybe he is the guy for you and the more you learn about him, the more you’ll like him, but keep an eye out for red flags and don’t ignore them when they pop up. No red flags? No problem! Go ahead and be mushy, romantic and sickeningly happy all over town together. Love Takes Time It is true that you have to know a person before you can claim to love them. For some people this happens fairly quickly, while there are other couples who have been together for months or even years without exchanging the L word. No matter when it happens, when you start feeling like you love someone, examine your emotions, get to know him and when you’re sure, tell him. Life is too short to keep love to yourself.
