Bring Them Along For The Ride

I’m sure you’ve never really thought about bringing your pets on vacation with you, but this is an alternative to boarding in a kennel or leaving your pets at home under the care of neighbours, family or friends.  Depending on where you’re going and what kind of vacation you’re taking, consider taking Fido or Fluffy along so they can enjoy a vacation too.

Of course, this all depends on the nature of your pet.  If you have very nervous animals, shaking up their routine might not be the best call for their health, happiness and safety.  But if you know your pet is well adjusted, taking them on vacation can be the right solution.  Arranging to bring your pet along can be taxing, but taking your dog for a run along the beach with you in the early morning might be the best part of your vacation.

There are a few things you’ll have to figure out, like the regulations for flying with your pet, the kinds of vaccines or proof you’ll need to cross international borders and whether or not your hotel will let you keep your pets in the room.  If you’re visiting family and friends, be sure you ask before you assume that your pets are welcome.
