The Nature Of Monogamy: Part 2

Emotionally Speaking

Like most men, I find it nearly impossible to understand women.  It isn’t that I am not trying, but rather I have found out that it is a futile task.  Sadly, a lot of women have told me that.  With that said, this lack of understanding between men and women can lead to disaster when a man is unable to pick up on a woman’s signals in regard to their current relationship.  From my viewpoint, I see this lack of understanding as the key reason why women commit infidelities.

No matter how long a relationship has lasted, it may only be a matter of time before both partners lose touch with each other.  From a woman’s standpoint, this lack of connection can lead to feelings of loneliness, self-pity and general sense of dissatisfaction with the dynamics of a relationship.  It can be painful in many respects to be stuck in a dead end relationship and it is only a matter of time before both men and women alike look to relieve that pain through an infidelity.  The act of committing an infidelity for these reasons alone can rejuvenate a life in many respects, regardless of the moral and potential legal consequences.

Based upon the statistics in Part 1, it is easy to hypothesize that the “flame” in a marriage eventually burns out for many.  When that flame burns out it is natural to look for a new, more exciting partner that brings about feelings that many have thought they would never feel again.  I’m not sure why the flame in many relationships eventually burns out, but suffice to say, this simple reason could lead to a vast majority of infidelities in marriages, especially in regard to women.

Stay Tuned For More

In Part 3 of the series we’ll take a look at men and what makes them tick when it comes to cheating.  Are there any major differences between men and women who commit infidelity?
