5 Summer Clothing Staples

Ostentatious Sunglasses

Sunglasses are one of those few items that men can get a little overboard with without completely ruining their outfit.  A little flash or flair in your sunglasses can add some summer style to your look and if they aren't working, you can toss them in a matter of seconds.  Aviators are a classic favourite that carry just a touch of arrogance.  Wayfarers too have experienced a major comeback and are an excellent choice.  Basically, if you’re going to have a little fun with your look this summer, start with your shades.

Casual White Shirt

Dark colours should be avoided in hot weather, so having a host of nice white shirts to throw on is a great idea.  Of course, you won’t want to wear your best work shirts out on the town, so be sure to buy some more casual button-ups.  Linen shirts and rougher cotton blends are great choices and should be worn with the sleeves rolled up when appropriate.  They can be worn with jeans, khakis, shorts (on some occasions) and make for a very versatile garment.

Summer Jacket

While it’s easy to pretend that summer weather consists of nothing but blazing, hot days with the sun high in the sky, it’s delusional and just not true.  A quality, lightweight summer jacket is a must-have for your wardrobe.  While sport jackets can look great, they can often be a tad too formal for a lot of summer activities.  Concentrate more on function when picking up a summer jacket as you’ll more than likely be removing it halfway through the day anyway.

Slick Summer Style

Having a few classic items in your wardrobes will ensure that you are ready for the summer weather and always looking good.  Trends come and go, but the above mentioned items have been around for a long while and will more than likely continue to be worn for some time.  While these items aren’t the only clothes you’ll be rocking this summer, they will more than likely make a few appearances, so make sure your summer staples are well stocked.
