Vegreville, Alberta – The World’s Largest Pysanka

Just off the highway between Edmonton and Lloydminster, you’ll find Vegreville’s Pysanka.  The Pysanka is an Ukrainian Easter Egg.  It weights 5,000 pounds and is composed of 524 different star patterns.  It’s a marvel to look at, fun to take pictures with and to make your visit even better, the park surrounding the Pysanka is perfect for a picnic lunch off the highway where everyone, the kids included, can safely stretch their legs.

The Home of Wiarton Willie

If you’re driving near Wiarton, Ontario, you should stop in to see the home of Canada’s most famous groundhog, Wiarton Willie.  While predicting the coming of spring only happens once a year on Groundhog Day, on any day of the year, you can visit a larger-than-life stone carving of Wiarton Willie himself.  The picturesque view behind the statue backs onto Colpoy’s Bay and the famous Niagra Escarpment.
