![]() Get your photo taken with a giant squid in Glover’s Harbour in Newfoundland. Then tell all your friends and family that sea-monsters are real! This 55-foot statue is the same size as the world record holding giant squid, which was found near Glover’s Harbour in 1878. With the tentacles sprawled around the body, you can have the whole family in the shot somewhere, hanging off of, or standing next to, one of the giant squid’s many arms. World’s Largest Fiddle In Nova Scotia When you’re travelling around Nova Scotia, make plans to stop in Sydney on Cape Breton Island for the night. You’ll want to see the World’s Largest Fiddle both during the day as you stroll along the waterfront and at night when it’s fully illuminated. It’s over 42 feet high and a special treat for the musically minded. Stop For A Weber’s Burger On Highway 11, near Orillia, in Ontario, there is a sight to be seen. A pedestrian walkway named the Weber’s bridge, built in 1983, carries hungry travellers to the best burger you’ll ever find off the highway whether you’re heading north or south along the road. There’s plenty of parking, but don’t be alarmed if you see a crowd outside Weber’s all day. There’s also plenty of green space and picnic tables to enjoy a meal before getting back in the car. See Ogopogo In Kelowna, Brish Columbia Be one of the six people yearly who spot the legendary water monster, Ogopogo. You could spend the day watching Lake Okanagan for a glimpse of Ogopogo and come away empty handed or you could make the big score and take a blurry photo or two. If you’re not lucky enough to experience a sighting of Canada’s most famous water monster, you can always snap a picture next to the huge statue in City Park. For anyone who’s obsessed with the Loch Ness Monster, introduce them to Ogopogo and you’ll be sure to have smiles all day long. Niagara Falls Niagara Falls is one of those roadside attractions that attract visitors by the millions to witness the water flowing over the horseshoe shaped Canadian side of the falls. If you’re driving through Niagara Falls, be sure to get out of the car and take a photograph with this massive waterfall. If you’ve got more time on your hands, a ride in the Maid of the Mist or a helicopter ride above the falls is breathtaking! Things To See And Do There are so many things to see and do when driving around Canada, from statues of squids, beavers and giant eggs to a famous burger and one of Canada’s most visited sights. Before you set out on your next road trip, do a little research into what amazing roadside attractions are waiting for you just a little way off the highway. |
