4 Simple Pleasures Of Grooming

A Fresh Scent

Although colognes and scents tend to be overused, just a small amount of cologne or even just an aftershave applied perfectly can be a subtle small pleasure.  When preparing for major occasions such as weddings, job interviews, first dates, etc., your grooming routine kicks into high gear as you aim to look and feel your best.  After a nice, long shower and a long, thorough shave, you’ll most likely look your best, but with a carefully selected fresh yet manly scent applied to your body, you will also feel your best.  Knowing you smell great can give you just enough of a confidence boost to appear charming and lively to those you’re out to impress.  Even if you don’t wear cologne every day, every man should have a bottle of some scent around for special occasions.

A Healthy Head Of Hair

Although guys fuss about their hair a lot less than the fairer sex, taking care of your hair should be an important part of your grooming process.  It can be annoying to use several different products in the shower, especially when you just want to get in and out of there and on with your day.  However, something can be said for the feeling of freshly conditioned hair.  It’s soft and smooth and easy to run your hands through.  It feels clean, you feel fresh, renewed and your hair looks great.  Freshly washed and conditioned hair is even better after a long day’s work, a weekend-long camping trip or even an intense game of basketball.  It’s a small thing, a fleeting moment, but it sure feels great.

Small Rewards

Grooming can be exhausting and at times you might feel as though it’s all for naught, but taking the time to appreciate the little pleasures in the process can make it all seem easier.  Although your goal with grooming should be about staying healthy and looking sharp to the outside world, it is also about taking some time for yourself.  So the next time you’re labouring with a beard trimmer or begrudgingly applying that skin lotion, just relax and learn to enjoy the experience.
