![]() If you’ve been working all day and forgot to eat dinner (which of course you know you shouldn’t have done), definitely avoid going to the drive-thru late at night. The worst thing is to go to bed on a stomach full of fatty foods. Try a salad or soup. Pack up leftover food for lunch. It never hurts your stomach and your wallet will thank you too. Grocery Shopping Tips Try to shop in advance and when you’re not hungry! Buy juice in per-serving containers, eggs and whole grain cereal, so you have these in the mornings. Having food in your house will motivate you to eat there and eat healthy before you go instead of buying a muffin when you get to work. Choose products low in sugar and high in fibre and protein, like whole grains, fruits and eggs. Make sure you read labels on all foods. Check for high amounts of sugars and fats. Stock Up On The Essentials
Prepare After you have gone grocery shopping for the essentials, it’s time to try to work with the schedule you do have rather than trying to make more time, because that usually doesn’t end up working very well. Skip the time you use at the vending machine or getting fast food when you don’t have time to cook and instead, use it to make yourself a healthier meal. The key here is to plan, plan, plan. When you go grocery shopping, take a list with you detailing the healthy foods you want and stick to it. Buy at least one week’s worth of food, so you don’t have to go back or resort to fast food during the week. Cook And Store When you do cook and you know you won’t have very much time during the week, prepare enough food on the weekend or when you do have time, so that you have enough left for lunches and dinner throughout the course of the week. Freeze or refrigerate the food, so you can reheat it later. Keep your cereal in small zip lock bags so you can grab a bag in the morning on the go. Fill up a water bottle with juice or milk so you can get it on your way out. Also, cut up fresh fruit when you have time and keep it in plastic containers for easy and quick access. Keep Healthy And Active Remember that nutrition is only one part of a healthy lifestyle and that eating right needs to be accompanied by exercise. Eating properly is a big step for many, so once you have this nailed down, start working towards the rest of it and you’ll be on your way to living right and having good health.
