You can do these exercises in front of the TV at home at no cost!  Vanessa Agosta and Alexandra Cuk tell you why your excuses mean nothing. Are you missing workouts?  Constantly making excuses for why you aren’t eating better?  Well stop it!  Avoid continuously sabotaging your fitness goals and finally get fit once and for all.  Chances are, the only thing standing in your way is you!

Excuse:  Joining a gym is expensive.

For starters, there are many no-frills gyms out there these days that have monthly rates as low as $10, but you can get a great workout for even cheaper than that at home or outside.  A great cardio workout can be done anywhere; get outside and walk, jog, skip – anything to get that heart rate up!  Invest in a few different pairs of dumbbells and you’ll be able to condition every part of your body in the comfort of your own home.  Do squats, lunges, crunches and stretches in your living room in front of your favourite show in the evening and it will hardly even feel like you’re working out.

Excuse:  I worked out today, so I need more calories.

Exercising does not mean that you can or should eat whatever you want for the rest of the day.  You have to consider the amount of calories that you are consuming versus what you are burning off.  If you are looking to lose fat, this means keeping a deficit of 500 to 1,000 calories per day to keep losing 1 lb to 2 lbs of body fat per week.  If you are simply maintaining your weight and working out for fitness, then you can indulge in some extra calories, but you should still stick to healthier options rather than artery-clogging burgers, fries or pizza.  Eating too many of these kinds of foods will negatively impact more than just your waistline.
