The Best Fat Loss Advice I've Ever ReceivedBy Dan Grant [Trainer Talk]

Is all the fat loss information out there confusing you? Dan Grant fixes that problem by revealing the best fat loss advice he’s ever gotten. As much as I teach about fat loss, I have people teaching me too, from my actual clients to other trainers from around the world. How do I learn from clients, you ask? Well, I get a better understanding of what works better for certain people and I also learn what the average person does when I’m not around ─ what people eat, how people sleep, how stress affects them, etc. When I get new clients coming to me, I also get some pretty off-the-wall questions about what they’ve read about fat loss training, so I get to learn a little bit about all the information that’s actually out there…which is a hell of a lot. So here’s some of the best advice I’ve ever gotten and how it helped me and my success with clients. Don’t Do Long Cardio Alwyn Cosgrove is, in my eyes, the pioneer of this advice, probably because he was the first trainer I ever started really studying. Alwyn is world famous and has been doing this for a lot longer than I have. As many fitness pros will say, he’s one of the brightest guys this industry has ever seen. He taught me and really got me into interval training and informed me that I should do it after working out. I learned from my certification books to do long cardio first and then do a weight session. Boy, were results slow for clients. I almost thought about getting out of the business because I couldn’t get great results to save my life. I realized this whole thing about training your heart first and then doing medium to light resistance training was idiotic. Not only does interval training help with burning more fat throughout the day and while you sleep, it also saves your lean muscle from being broken down. So interval training is win-win for spiking up your metabolism and burn tons of fat. If Man Made It, Don’t Eat It The fitness icon himself, Jack Lalanne, once said, “If man made it, don’t eat it.” Simple and effective. He’s obviously followed that rule and is as chipper as ever in his 90s. I know these days that’s almost impossible to do, but even if you’re just aware of that saying to help you make decisions when you have the choice, it can help you out greatly in the long run. Stay balanced and stay as simple as possible with nutrition. It doesn’t really have to be that hard. |
