Even if couples try to work through things together, it doesn’t mean they will still end up being compatible.  Some people have this idea that you are supposed to stay together no matter what because you’ve made a commitment to this person.  These people will hopefully find each other, since clearly they are looking for something different than many of us today.  There’s no reason we shouldn’t all be looking for someone who truly enriches our lives, without accepting substitutes or clinging to the past during the time between relationships.

While being in love is an amazing experience for everyone, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the life that leads up to it, including when you are single.  Give yourself time to sort your life out, assess your priorities and get a strong sense of who you are – rather than reflecting back on a past self and trying to be something you aren’t.  The right person will be there; you just have to become you first.
