September is here, and for many, a new school year means a new room. Lisa Xing tells you how to make it user-friendly. ![]() Minimize One of the golden rules when organizing a space is to minimize. Some people tend to be pack rats, but if you want less stress, make sure to minimize your belongings. Get rid of what you don’t absolutely need, or rather, get rid of most of the things you don’t need, like your third framed photo of your pet and just keep the one. Do you have a zillion posters? Keep those wrapped up and bring out your favourite two. If you do this, your space will clear up little by little and will start to look more polished, neater and more organized. Keep the Essentials On the other side of the coin, make sure to know what your essentials are and keep them out in the open for easy access. What do you absolutely need? If it’s your cell phone charger, keep that near a plug or in the plug at all times. If it’s your water bottle, keep it on your desk where you can easily reach it. Or if it’s a bottomless container of pens, keep those by you. This way you won’t be rummaging all the time for the items you use everyday. It will save you time and save you space.
