![]() There are so many little ways that you can make a positive and memorable impact on people. Imagine you’re a bus driver and all day long you have people walk like zombies past you, like you don’t even exist. Now, what if a passenger were to get on at the next stop, flash you a smile, and ask "How are you?" or tell a small joke? For people to remember you, you need to be that passenger. People will think very highly of you if you use small gestures like a thank you or holding the door open for someone on a regular basis. Another way to be truly memorable when you’re just starting to get to know someone is to mention their name and something about the last time you met like, "Hi Gary. That restaurant you recommended last week was fantastic! Thanks for the tip." Your acquaintance is going to feel like you made an honest connection because he or she was worth remembering. Between the both of you, you meet loads of people so that effort to note those little details makes you standout. The Way You Look Tonight… and Anytime In a perfect world, appearances wouldn’t matter but in truth, how you look says a great deal about you. Being likeable isn’t about spending a lot of money on the latest and greatest fashion and having the right haircut. However, looking well put-together makes a huge difference; it says you value the way that you look and you take good care of yourself. In other words, you have self-respect and that gives people the impression that they should have the same respect for you! This all goes on in our subconscious - it’s your secret message that says, "You should like me." _______________________________ At the end of the day, being well liked is a matter of showing that you recognize everyone as a person and not just a face. On the matter of people we don’t like: they’re just a part of life so take the high road and be polite. There’s nothing to be gained from letting them know that you don’t like them either. In any case, it boils down to respect and small acts of kindness so that when people think of you, they’ll think of your very best qualities. They’ll also remember a person who is funny, kind, and thoughtful - and who wouldn’t like someone like that? |
