The Ultimate Sex Workout

Increase Muscle Endurance And Strength

During sex, you may find yourself in positions that are difficult to maintain, so make sure you include a resistance-training segment in your workout program.  To increase muscle endurance, keep the weights light and do 15 to 20 reps.  If you lack strength, lift heavier weights using 10 to 12 reps.  Make sure the weights are challenging enough to make you burn out by the last rep.

Strong abs, back and arm muscles are particularly necessary for good sex.  Exercises like push-ups, crunches and back extensions are particularly important and they don't even require any equipment.  Just remember when you're cursing the last rep on your set of push-ups that staying strong allows you to prolong sex and make it more pleasurable.

Increase Flexibilty

The third and final component to a great sex workout is a thorough stretch at the end.  Flexibility can make it a bit easier for you to get into different sexual positions, especially those weird and wonderful ones you never thought would be possible.

Yoga is particularly good for increasing flexibility.  There's also a particular form of yoga called tantra, which seeks to identify and stimulate the sensual side of spirituality.

Sex Is Exercise Too

Of course, there's nothing like the act of sex itself to get the blood flowing.  However, keep in mind that it has to be pretty vigorous to up your heart rate.

A 130 lb person burns about seven calories per five minutes of vigorous sex.  Keep it up for two hours and it'll burn 177 calories.  Walking for two hours burns 546 calories and running burns about 1250.  So make no mistake:  sex should not be used in lieu of a decent workout.

Get Your Motor Running

Both sex and exercise help to reduce stress, so doing both on a regular basis should help you stay relaxed and happy.  A low sex drive is often caused by stress and fatigue.  Exercise, accompanied by a healthy diet and adequate sleep, can boost your libido so you'll be up for anything.

Now might be a good time to renew that gym membership.
