10 Wedding Disasters - and how to avoid them

[Weddings]
A wedding is supposed to be the most memorable day for a couple, but how can you make sure those memories are sweet? Krisztina Virag explains.

Amidst preparations for the big day, problems can often arise that if not handled properly, can elevate into real wedding disasters.

Weddings often come about as the result of an intimate proposal and they culminate in an emotional promise of two lives forever intertwined. Yet it seems, more often than not, that weddings become so much more than the union of two people.

Now flower arrangements, churches, banquet halls and bridesmaid dresses are in the limelight of wedding celebrations. With all the preparations, a wedding can cause power struggles between the family who pays for the wedding and the bride and groom - making this wonderful time less than memorable.

With the purpose of eliminating stress, here are a few wedding disasters along with their solutions and precautions.

Missing Rings

An all time classic wedding ‘oops’ is the missing rings. The last thing you want is to realize at the altar is that the rings are not there.

It is best to keep the rings safe and tucked away in a place where, amid the wedding craze, they cannot be damaged or go missing. Assign the rings to someone reliable. Although the best man is traditionally in charge of the rings, even he can become flimsy with all of the excitement. So you may want to break the tradition here and find someone who you know will not lose them.

Terrible Food at the Reception

While deciding between fish or chicken seems like a simple idea, different catering businesses prepare food in different ways. Never walk into a commitment with food unless you know exactly what you will be getting. Your guests will not eat too much before your reception, expecting to have dinner there. If you serve something terrible, they will have a bad memory of the whole evening.

Schedule a food and cake tasting with several caterers to find the best value for your buck. Don't leave this one up to chance - it's just too important.
