Natalie Portman

She’s a true original in Hollywood among people claiming to be “true originals.” Lisa Xing writes.

Natalie Portman is authentic and amazing, from her gutsy roles in movies to her immense talent. Besides her intelligence, this girl has remarkable style. It’s not something you’d see in everyday Hollywood; she truly makes the clothing her own.

Maturity

The great thing about Natalie is that she dresses like an adult. Since she graduated from Harvard, her wardrobe has taken on the post-college look. Usually, the wardrobe doesn’t consist of baggy t-shirts or ratty jeans (unless it’s on purpose!)

Post-school, it’s time to think about more career-oriented clothes like business-y pants and tailored collar shirts. That doesn’t mean you can’t wear comfortable clothes. Mix and match appropriately. Put a band t-shirt with black pinstriped pants, and you have a gorgeous ensemble.

Hair

Natalie’s hair is beautiful. To get this simple, tousled look, start with long layers and sweeping bangs. Don’t use a lot of conditioner if you want more volume. Use a wide-tooth comb instead of a small-tooth one because it’ll make hair look fuzzy, especially fine hair.

For soft, big curls, use a medium-sized curling iron and curl your hair away from your face. Make sure you apply mousse while wet to set the curls and finish off with a light spritz of hairspray. Or, you can be just as daring as Natalie and go for a shaved look!

If you’re a little less daring, (which I imagine many of you are) a great compromise is the pixie cut that Natalie pulls off so well. It’s modern, fun, and very manageable. But if you’re going from very long hair to that length, I suggest you consult your hairdresser first. (If you do decide to chop it off, why not donate your hair to an organization that makes wigs for cancer patients?)
